Internships

Are a great idea.  You'll get exposure to your field in a way that cannot be recreated in the classroom or the lab.  I've had several students that have decided on the basis of internships that either "YES - this is what I want to do, I love it", or "NO - I do not want to do this for the rest of my life."

There are many types of internship opportunities available to biology majors.  My students have had internships in laboratory research, clinical situations, field research, or other workplace situations.  Check the department web page for a few ideas, testimonials, etc.

For those of my advisees who are contemplating an internship, please talk to me.  I prefer to be your sponsor for all internships - that way I know what you are doing, have done, and can better advise you on matters.
