Test Taking Hints
- Remember, throughout your preparation and taking of any test, that no test
is the most important thing in your life. This has impact in your
preparation habits, and your behavior during the exam. Cheating is not
worth it, either materially or spiritually.
- Get plenty of sleep the night before a test. Your brain will
function much better when it is rested. As you take the test, your
short-term recall will fail, and you will have to rely more and more on
clear thinking and deduction. So all-nighters are usually
counter-productive.
- Never leave a question without an answer. Even if your mind
goes blank, put something down. If you don't heed this advice, you'll
have to hear my "Insect Taxonomy Final Exam" story all over again
- Essays should be
- logically organized (make the logical structure plainly visible, to
the point of underlining key words).
- written in complete sentences, unless instructed otherwise.
- written in pencil (see #5 below).
- Bring at least two (2, II, dos, zwei, nee) pencils to the exam.
